With his leg Benedito Nóbrega managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Leones FC's Pedro Nuno fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Dráusio Toscano scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Filomeno Manni, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Leones FC defense, Dráusio Toscano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Filomeno Manni. The Leones FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Filomeno Manni should have stopped the shot. Leones FC's Filomeno Manni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dráusio Toscano in the 24th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Leones FC's goal looked a bit too open when Denílson Urbano came free, but Filomeno Manni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Denílson Urbano took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Filomeno Manni. Filomeno Manni dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After some careless play in the Leones FC defense, Denílson Urbano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Filomeno Manni. The Leones FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Filomeno Manni should have stopped the shot. 39 minutes into the match, Leones FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dráusio Toscano came free, but Filomeno Manni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute Kauã Damião shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filomeno Manni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dráusio Toscano took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Filomeno Manni. Filomeno Manni dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. A collision led to Galo do Japi getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Ademir Carvalho hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Nuno to make the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Leones FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Nuno to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Galo do Japi booed when Leones FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacobo Cresencio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Orlando Arruda received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Filomeno Manni came out and tried to block the shot, but Orlando Arruda slotted it home off the left post making it 0-7 in the 72nd minute. If Luís Madureira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Filomeno Manni made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Orlando Arruda sent off a good shot on target. Filomeno Manni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 85th minute Diogo Breckenfeld shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filomeno Manni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Orlando Arruda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Filomeno Manni made a huge save. Luís Madureiras short, quick shot in the 89thth minute got Filomeno Manni to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Filomeno Manni took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Arruda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Leones FC's Filomeno Manni got control of the ball when Luís Madureira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Galo do Japi played a much better game than Leones FC and deserved their victory. The Leones FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
