The Marlin FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Timoteo Evis should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Fidelio Haller managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Lugano's supporters rose to their feet, but Fidelio Haller was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Timoteo Evis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 18 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Marlin FC! After 26 played minutes Marlin FC got a freekick which was hit by Gregorio Loi. Timoteo Evis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulric Donsante, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. When Maximilian Buser fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Lugano's protests and gave Maximilian Buser a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC Lugano getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Maximilian Buser hit a great ball. Gregorio Loi charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gregorio Loi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gregorio Loi hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Timoteo Evis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulric Donsante, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Marlin FC's Gregorio Loi got his second yellow card of the match in the 45th minute. The referee ordered Gregorio Loi off the ground. Gregorio Loi kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tiziano Gamache was the one to do the kick off. Odysseus De Souza took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Timoteo Evis. Timoteo Evis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Odysseus De Souza scored 5-0 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Timoteo Evis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 60 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Odysseus De Souza. Odysseus De Souza kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiziano Gamache in the 64th minute of play forced Marlin FC's goalkeeper Timoteo Evis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Timoteo Evis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tiziano Gamache went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. Florian Diederich scored 7-0 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Timoteo Evis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Marlin FC defense, Odysseus De Souza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Timoteo Evis. The Marlin FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Timoteo Evis should have stopped the shot. Marlin FC's Timoteo Evis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Odysseus De Souza in the 77th minute of play. The supporters of Marlin FC booed when FC Lugano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tade Zeller didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 79 minutes, Prudencio Chuse managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marlin FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Prudencio Chuse was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 81st minute Guido Emennegger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timoteo Evis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marlin FC's Timoteo Evis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiziano Gamache in the 82nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiziano Gamache in the 83rd minute of play forced Marlin FC's goalkeeper Timoteo Evis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Timoteo Evis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiziano Gamache, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Marlin FC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Anier Sazon hit a great ball. When the referee ended the match the FC Lugano players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
