Ivan Adamčík showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vintilă Ticulescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Klement Dupal to strike the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 51 minutes, Calistrat Stoican took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Ivan Adamčík to make any attempt to save it. When Miroslav Brezník fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AFK Petržalka's protests and gave Miroslav Brezník a yellow card for diving instead. Eliodor Buciu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tibor Barmoš, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. After having played for 81 minutes, Tibor Barmoš managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFK Petržalka's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tibor Barmoš was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Emil Danciu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 86 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's Tibor Barmoš sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eliodor Buciu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Calistrat Stoican received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Ivan Adamčík tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emil Danciu got free with Ivan Adamčík in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
