Piquirenda FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 31st minute, when Frederico Godoi scored to the left of an out of position Freddy Elequemedo, making the score, 1-0. Piquirenda FC's Amadeo Matxin got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 39 minutes into the match, Victorio Eguntsenti notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Villaverde Celeste Clube's Geovanni Paranaense. Geovanni Paranaense was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 45 minutes into the match, Piquirenda FC's goalkeeper Freddy Elequemedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frederico Godoi. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Niceto Flor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Victorio Eguntsenti got free with Geovanni Paranaense in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 53rd match minute, Villaverde Celeste Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Róbson Donato to maneuver through the defense. Villaverde Celeste Clube's Geovanni Paranaense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niceto Flor in the 58th minute of play. Geovanni Paranaense made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Amadeo Matxin sent off a good shot on target. Freddy Elequemedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santiago Cabezudo in the 63rd minute of the match. After 68 played minutes Piquirenda FC got a freekick which was hit by Benigno Rico. 70 minutes into the match, Piquirenda FC's goal looked a bit too open when Santiago Cabezudo came free, but Freddy Elequemedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Villaverde Celeste Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Amadeo Matxin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Freddy Elequemedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giuliano David in the 90th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giuliano David in the 94th minute of play forced Piquirenda FC's goalkeeper Freddy Elequemedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Villaverde Celeste Clube manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Piquirenda FC to win.
