Club Atlético Magallanes's Alonzo Romano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Club Atlético Magallanes from getting a goal against them. Club Atlético Magallanes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Monumento Sports the free kick. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético Magallanes's Inocencio Theobald got a free kick in the 18th minute. The corner ended in Joel Lopes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Club Atlético Magallanes's Alonzo Romano did a great save. 23 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Magallanes's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Lopes came free, but Alonzo Romano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 28 played minutes Monumento Sports got a freekick which was hit by Eliézer Favoretto. After a defensive mix-up in Monumento Sports's zone, Inocencio Theobald stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amadeu Koehler came out of the goal and Inocencio Theobald tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emiliano Nafarroa made in the 33rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Monumento Sports's Luiz Fábio Rosado. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joel Lopes got free with Alonzo Romano in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Romeo Confesor made a kick off. If Joel Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alonzo Romano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Lopes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emiliano Nafarroa made in the 58th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Monumento Sports's Márcio Nunes. 68 minutes into the match, Monumento Sports's Joel Lopes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alonzo Romano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Joel Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 78 played minutes Monumento Sports got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fábio Rosado. Alonzo Romano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toninho Arruda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Joel Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Joel Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
