When Diogo Cosme fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vila Zumbi's protests and gave Diogo Cosme a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Vila Zumbi getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Diogo Cosme hit a great ball. Diogo Cosme was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 30 minutes into the match. The supporters of Sipo EC booed when Vila Zumbi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Cosme didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Vila Zumbi's goalkeeper Hermínio Silva, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Sipo EC's Célio Cardoso slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Hermínio Silva. That made the score 2-2 after 40 minutes of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After having played for 52 minutes, Célio Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sipo EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Célio Cardoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hílton de Brito might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Simão Custódio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hílton de Brito ran back to his position shaking his head. 64 minutes into the game, Silas de Lima recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Simão Custódio. Silas de Lima showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. 70 minutes into the game, Sílvio Queirós was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vila Zumbi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sipo EC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Vila Zumbi's Sílvio Queirós got a free kick in the 70th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Hílton de Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vila Zumbi's supporters rose to their feet, but Hílton de Brito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simão Custódio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Caio de Almeida during the 74th minute.
