The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. August Ritter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quincy Minor, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. A collision led to B68 Toftir getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Joseph Suter hit a great ball. With a little luck, B68 Toftir's August Ritter got control of the ball when Jarrett Poirier tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 7th match minute, B68 Toftir was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donald Decker to maneuver through the defense. Vancouver Reds's Jarrett Poirier got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jarrett Poirier got free with August Ritter in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robin Meier in the 19th minute of play forced Vancouver Reds's goalkeeper Heriberto Walton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. August Ritter made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jarrett Poirier in the 21st minute. 23 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's goal looked a bit too open when Joseph Suter came free, but Heriberto Walton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Robin Meier had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Heriberto Walton. Vancouver Reds's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Robin Meier was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. August Ritter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Quincy Minor's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. In the 42nd minute, Quincy Minor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. August Ritter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quincy Minor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of B68 Toftir booed when Vancouver Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Desmond Lynch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Robin Meier made the kick off in the second half. When Luke Oehen fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored B68 Toftir's protests and gave Luke Oehen a yellow card for diving instead. In the 52nd match minute, B68 Toftir was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luke Oehen to maneuver through the defense. Jarrett Poirier recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jarrett Poirier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 56 minutes, Pascal Schneider mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the B68 Toftir and the Vancouver Reds players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 56th minute, Pascal Schneider hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Heriberto Walton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donald Decker in the 62nd minute of play. Quincy Minor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Quincy Minor struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. August Ritter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vancouver Reds. In the 73rd minute, Joseph Suter ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Heriberto Walton was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Heriberto Walton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Werner Fiadone in the 77th minute of play. After 78 played minutes Vancouver Reds got a freekick which was hit by Desmond Lynch. The audience thought a goal was coming when Robin Meier got free with Heriberto Walton in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 83 minutes into the game, Poldi Pfenniger was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. B68 Toftir's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vancouver Reds the free kick. In the 86th minute Quincy Minor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but August Ritter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, Jarrett Poirier notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of B68 Toftir's August Ritter. August Ritter was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
