In the 7th minute Bautista Bausa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Kleinert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Herminio Aujea lost his temper 12 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 13th minute, Herminio Aujea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lutz Ertel in the 17th minute of play forced Ajax Colombiano's goalkeeper Mancio Arana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Ajax Colombiano defense, Maxim Nissen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mancio Arana. The Ajax Colombiano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mancio Arana should have stopped the shot. Alf Kleinert was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Matias Zuñiga capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Matias Zuñiga really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Ajax Colombiano's Mancio Arana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karsten Wolsch in the 31st minute of play. Alf Kleinert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xavier Landeros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Matias Zuñiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maxim Nissen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Mancio Arana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lutz Ertel to strike the kick off in the second half. Niceto Belda hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. 60 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goal looked a bit too open when Bautista Bausa came free, but Alf Kleinert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Ajax Colombiano's Mancio Arana got control of the ball when Andi Godescheid tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 65th minute, Andi Godescheid left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hertha 1969 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Matias Zuñiga's late challenge caught a Hertha 1969's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The referee ignored Ajax Colombiano's protests and gave Cayetano Pujol a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Hertha 1969 booed when Ajax Colombiano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cayetano Pujol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alf Kleinert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bautista Bausa in the 85th minute of the match. After having played for 88 minutes, Bautista Bausa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ajax Colombiano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bautista Bausa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Hertha 1969 booed when Ajax Colombiano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matias Zuñiga didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Hertha 1969 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Hertha 1969 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
