The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A.c Tre dei Frati's Federico Falcioni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hubert Eisenberg in the 20th minute of play. Federico Falcioni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anton Aicher, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Anselmo Nobile's late challenge caught a Hertha 1969's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anselmo Nobile helped the player get up and apologised. 26 minutes in the game, Lutz Ertel fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Federico Falcioni having to interfere. Fabio Vierchowod scored 0-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alf Kleinert, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Adi Köhler hit a great ball. Federico Falcioni was a little too slow when Andi Godescheid got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 1-1. After a rather tough play, Hertha 1969's Maxim Nissen got a free kick in the 40th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frank Vinciguerra to make the kick off. In the 56th match minute, A.c Tre dei Frati was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ettore Miccoli to maneuver through the defense. When Emanuele Magliocco fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A.c Tre dei Frati's protests and gave Emanuele Magliocco a yellow card for diving instead. Emanuele Magliocco hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Hubert Eisenberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Federico Falcioni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Andi Godescheid recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Hertha 1969's Anton Aicher got a free kick in the 86th minute. 96 minutes into the game, Fabio Marzo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. A.c Tre dei Frati's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hertha 1969 the free kick. In the 96th minute, Fabio Marzo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hertha 1969's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
