When Joaquim Mourão came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Bacardi Black Bats fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Mourão couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Red Hawk Football Club's zone, Luís Carmona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Uxio Dulce came out of the goal and Luís Carmona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Bacardi Black Bats's Hermano Machado got control of the ball when Xove Encina tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Red Hawk Football Club booed when Bacardi Black Bats was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aparício Graça didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th match minute, Bacardi Black Bats was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Amaral to maneuver through the defense. Xove Encina's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Hermano Machado firmly grabbed it by the left post. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Red Hawk Football Club's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
