Vito Furlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinhard Borkmann in the 4th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benny White in the 5th minute of play forced Höglunda IK's goalkeeper Vito Furlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Haglund in the 6th minute of play forced Hamburg City Vampires's goalkeeper Eugeniusz Tyski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Sivert Holmgren fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Höglunda IK's protests and gave Sivert Holmgren a yellow card for diving instead. In the 10th minute, Sivert Holmgren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fred Mendonça's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Vito Furlan firmly grabbed it by the left post. With an all-out effort, Hamburg City Vampires's Vito Furlan threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Benny White, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Hamburg City Vampires's Eugeniusz Tyski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Olof Sjöberg in the 18th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Fred Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hamburg City Vampires's supporters rose to their feet, but Fred Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vito Furlan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Reinhard Borkmann kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vito Furlan. That made the score 1-0 in the 28 minute of play. Vito Furlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinhard Borkmann in the 31st minute of play. After having played for 39 minutes, Reinhard Borkmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hamburg City Vampires's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reinhard Borkmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fred Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Vito Furlan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vito Furlan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Mendonça, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fred Mendonça was the one to do the kick off. Hamburg City Vampires's Reinhard Borkmann got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Höglunda IK's Vito Furlan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Mendonça in the 53rd minute of play. Fred Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 57 minutes into the game, Stig Hasselqvist was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Höglunda IK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hamburg City Vampires the free kick. In the 57th match minute, Höglunda IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stig Hasselqvist to maneuver through the defense. In the 59th minute Reinhard Borkmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vito Furlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vito Furlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinhard Borkmann in the 65th minute of play. Fred Mendonça blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vito Furlan having to make a save. Vito Furlan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Mendonça, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. In the 69th match minute, Höglunda IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stig Hasselqvist to maneuver through the defense. Vito Furlan came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Hamburg City Vampires's Fred Mendonça. But to his dismay, Fred Mendonça quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 83rd minute, Sture Lägdin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Höglunda IK's Vito Furlan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Mendonça in the 84th minute of play. After having played for 87 minutes, Reinhard Borkmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hamburg City Vampires's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reinhard Borkmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Höglunda IK defense, Reinhard Borkmann kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vito Furlan. The Höglunda IK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vito Furlan should have stopped the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Hamburg City Vampires fans cheered their team off the field, for while Höglunda IK had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
