If Ahmed Mazzid had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Baldomiro Rufio charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Baldomiro Rufio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a defensive mix-up in Ledesma's zone, Ahmed Mazzid stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcial Salvidor came out of the goal and Ahmed Mazzid tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Ledesma's Baldomiro Rufio got a free kick in the 10th minute. A collision led to Sanfrecce Hiroshima getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Abdelhamid Ben Khalidi hit a great ball. Santo Fertus made in the 16th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Sanfrecce Hiroshima's Tedj Yahia. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ahmed Mazzid in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcial Salvidor prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ahmed Mazzid recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Fouad Al-Jazairia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute, Ahmed Mazzid got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Sanfrecce Hiroshima's Mansour Harkouk got control of the ball when Baldomiro Rufio tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Sanfrecce Hiroshima getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Abdelhamid Ben Khalidi hit a great ball. 32 minutes into the game, Ermegildo Hartz recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mansour Harkouk. Ermegildo Hartz showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Baldomiro Rufio got free with Mansour Harkouk in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 40th minute Baldomiro Rufio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mansour Harkouk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmed Mazzid in the 43rd minute of play forced Ledesma's goalkeeper Marcial Salvidor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mansour Harkouk was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ermegildo Hartz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 45 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Ledesma were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Sanfrecce Hiroshima's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Miguel Xabier took the corner. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Ermegildo Hartz advanced and headed the ball into goal, 3-0 in the 54th minute. After 58 minutes Sanfrecce Hiroshima's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Miguel Xabier who took care of the corner kick. Mansour Harkouk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ermegildo Hartz in the 62nd minute of the match. Mansour Harkouk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baldomiro Rufio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Santo Fertus made in the 68th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Ildefonso Mattin however managed to control. 69 minutes into the match, Ildefonso Mattin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mansour Harkouk. Sanfrecce Hiroshima's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ildefonso Mattin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Ildefonso Mattin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ledesma's supporters rose to their feet, but Ildefonso Mattin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mansour Harkouk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermegildo Hartz in the 80th minute of play forced Sanfrecce Hiroshima's goalkeeper Mansour Harkouk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 82 minutes into the match, Baldomiro Rufio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mansour Harkouk. Sanfrecce Hiroshima's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Baldomiro Rufio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Sanfrecce Hiroshima's Mansour Harkouk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ildefonso Mattin in the 89th minute of play. After some careless play in the Sanfrecce Hiroshima defense, Ermegildo Hartz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mansour Harkouk. The Sanfrecce Hiroshima fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mansour Harkouk should have stopped the shot. There was no doubt that Ledesma were the better team. Ledesma's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
