The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Owen Stevens scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benedict Timmons, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rolland Bonilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillermo Bauman, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 12th minute, Mena FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Zackary Pierson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. A sloppy throw-in by Shayne Tinsley in the 14th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Mena FC's Owen Stevens. The throw-in from Shayne Tinsley in the 18th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Mena FC's Rosario Hart. Len Post struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Benedict Timmons didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mena FC. In the 25th match minute, Hillsville AF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Byron Conner to maneuver through the defense. Jackson Metz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Benedict Timmons. Hillsville AF's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Benedict Timmons took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilbur Cortez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Owen Stevens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 30 minutes in the game Virgil Ruff did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Shayne Tinsley. Virgil Ruff made in the 36th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Shayne Tinsley immediately put the ball in play. In the 38th minute, Guillermo Bauman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hillsville AF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 43rd minute, Zackary Pierson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Jamal Leon made the kick off in the second half. If Jamal Leon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 53rd minute, Jamal Leon made a precise shot to the right of Rolland Bonilla. Mena FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 55th minute, Owen Stevens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 57 minutes into the game, Jamal Leon cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Rolland Bonilla was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Harry Krause received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Rolland Bonilla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mena FC's Rosario Hart managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Shayne Tinsley in the 67 minute of the game. If Jesus Hemphill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 72 minutes into the match, Hillsville AF's Josiah Zavala sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolland Bonilla narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Wilbur Cortez spun around in front of the goal 73 minutes in the game and got away a good shot, but Benedict Timmons grabbed the ball before it went up in top right corner. When Jamal Leon came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Hillsville AF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jamal Leon couldn't finish the play. In the 78th minute Guillermo Bauman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolland Bonilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute, Len Post ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benedict Timmons was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Mena FC's Jackson Metz got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benedict Timmons made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Len Post in the 90th minute of play. 93 minutes into the game, Shayne Tinsley threw the ball into play from the sideline. Mena FC's Rosario Hart quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 94 minutes in the game Virgil Ruff did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Shayne Tinsley. Hillsville AF were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Mena FC for a fine match.
