Camillo Di Loreto started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 6th minute, Ashley Bäßler ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Damiano Pizzi was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Ashley Bäßler kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Damiano Pizzi. That made the score 2-0 in the 9 minute of play. In the 11th minute, Alvise Raimondi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 12thth minute of the game Ashley Bäßler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barcelona's Damiano Pizzi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Federico Piccone hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. The supporters of Hansa Rostock booed when Barcelona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Achille Marra didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 42 played minutes Barcelona got a freekick which was hit by Achille Marra. After 43 minutes, Enrico Mazza mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Barcelona and the Hansa Rostock players grew even worse after the yellow card. Hansa Rostock's Kurt Zinnbauer was substituted for Tobias Holstein. Barcelona were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Hansa Rostock's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Carlo Sarnelli took the corner. Carlo Sarnelli made a great header on Barcelona's corner, it was just that Hansa Rostock's Davor Saller managed to reach the ball for a save.
