After some careless play in the Barcelona defense, Albert Handy kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Damiano Pizzi. The Barcelona fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Damiano Pizzi should have stopped the shot. Oxford United's Alonzo Dykes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Di Meo in the 6th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Young Wolfe in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Damiano Pizzi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alonzo Dykes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Camillo Di Loreto in the 9th minute of play. Damiano Pizzi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Young Wolfe in the 10th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Camillo Di Loreto in the 14th minute of play forced Oxford United's goalkeeper Alonzo Dykes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Young Wolfe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A throw-in in the 34th minute of the game was made by Achille Marra with Federico Piccone as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Federico Piccone struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Alonzo Dykes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barcelona. If Camillo Di Loreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Camillo Di Loreto to make the kick off. 50 minutes into the game, Camillo Di Loreto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barcelona's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Oxford United the free kick. The supporters of Oxford United booed when Barcelona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camillo Di Loreto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Damiano Pizzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Young Wolfe in the 52nd minute of play. In the 54th minute, Barcelona's Camillo Di Loreto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alonzo Dykes. Alonzo Dykes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. Alonzo Dykes made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Alex Di Meo sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Oxford United getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Albert Handy hit a great ball. Damiano Pizzi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cody Hall in the 61st minute of the match. Young Wolfe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damiano Pizzi having to interfere. In the 68thth minute of the game Young Wolfe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barcelona's Damiano Pizzi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ferdinando Signoretti hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Young Wolfe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damiano Pizzi having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Young Wolfe came free, but Damiano Pizzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alonzo Dykes made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Alex Di Meo sent off a good shot on target. Alfredo Basso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Alonzo Dykes made a huge save. Albert Handy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Damiano Pizzi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 82 minutes into the game, Young Wolfe cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Damiano Pizzi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Oxford United getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Felipe Wise hit a great ball. When Alex Di Meo came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Barcelona fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alex Di Meo couldn't finish the play. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Barcelona's goalkeeper Damiano Pizzi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Federico Piccone spun around in front of the goal 94 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Oxford United's goal.
