Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Wilbur Cortez took the kick off in the first half of the match. If Jamal Leon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Zackary Pierson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolland Bonilla having to make a save. Mena FC's attentive Rosario Hart managed to snatch the ball when Shayne Tinsley made a throw-in in the 8th minute of the game. After 10 minutes, Virgil Ruff mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hillsville AF and the Mena FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Virgil Ruff hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Hillsville AF's zone, Wilbur Cortez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benedict Timmons came out of the goal and Wilbur Cortez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Owen Stevens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benedict Timmons took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilbur Cortez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mena FC's Rosario Hart got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 19th minute Jamal Leon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolland Bonilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jamal Leon in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolland Bonilla saved Mena FC from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jamal Leon in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolland Bonilla prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 21 minutes into the game, Hillsville AF's Guillermo Bauman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rolland Bonilla made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 25th minute of the match Hillsville AF got a corner. Mena FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Harry Krause ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Harry Krause got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rolland Bonilla quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Rosario Hart kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Rolland Bonilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jamal Leon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 32 minutes, Tyron Walls mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mena FC and the Hillsville AF players grew even worse after the yellow card. Hillsville AF made a substitution. Kelly McLean replaced Jamal Leon. The supporters of Hillsville AF booed when Mena FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tyron Walls didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ryan Dale's late challenge caught a Hillsville AF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ryan Dale helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Hillsville AF booed when Mena FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ryan Dale didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 36 minutes of play, Hillsville AF's Kelly McLean made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rolland Bonilla was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 39th minute Kelly McLean shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolland Bonilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guillermo Bauman in the 40th minute of play forced Mena FC's goalkeeper Rolland Bonilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kelly McLean to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Wilbur Cortez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benedict Timmons saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benedict Timmons came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Mena FC's Wilbur Cortez. But to his dismay, Wilbur Cortez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. In the 58th minute, Wilbur Cortez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Kelly McLean came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Hillsville AF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kelly McLean couldn't finish the play. Benedict Timmons showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilbur Cortez in the 68th minute of the match. Benedict Timmons made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilbur Cortez in the 72nd minute of play. In the 80th minute of the game Virgil Ruff made a throw-in which Shayne Tinsley played forward. Davis Hinkle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedict Timmons having to interfere. Shayne Tinsley hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Hillsville AF's Josiah Zavala managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Ryan Dale in the 89 minute of the game. 93 minutes into the game, Virgil Ruff threw the ball into play from the sideline. Mena FC's Rosario Hart quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Wilbur Cortez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Mena FC had won after a very even match.
