Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Zlatan Gigant got the match started through his kick off. In the 2nd match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Venancio Emesto to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Arif Chian managed to get in a good position for a shot. United's supporters rose to their feet, but Arif Chian was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Óscar Cordoba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matias Bilintx got free with Sabahattin Erten in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 11th minute, Zlatan Gigant left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Sabahattin Erten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Venancio Emesto, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. A collision led to United getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Arif Chian hit a great ball. Matias Bilintxs short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Sabahattin Erten to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 26 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Arif Chian came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zlatan Gigant in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Óscar Cordoba prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hong Hong kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Matias Bilintx managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting de Gijón's supporters rose to their feet, but Matias Bilintx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Matias Bilintx made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Diego Maradona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sabahattin Erten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Saturnino Curcio was slow to take the kick. During this time Sporting de Gijón's players had a chance to rest. Matias Bilintx's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sabahattin Erten read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Sabahattin Erten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matias Bilintx in the 57th minute of the match. Arif Chian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matias Bilintx in the 63rd minute of play forced United's goalkeeper Sabahattin Erten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matias Bilintx in the 89th minute of play forced United's goalkeeper Sabahattin Erten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Matias Bilintx came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Sporting de Gijón fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matias Bilintx couldn't finish the play. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
