Olivedos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Iustin Bâru was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 17th minute, Iustin Bâru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Go Ahead Eagles fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abel de Godoi got free with Rafa Lojewski in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Olivedos's Tony Schmidt got a free kick in the 25th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Cássio Ferraz in the 31st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Go Ahead Eagles's Mateusz Zabrzeski. Iustin Bâru's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Yuri da Cunha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
