The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Lions United's Steve De Wilde played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lu Bin Yuan in the 10th minute of play. Lu Bin Yuan hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. In the 15th match minute, Los Delfines was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Javier Peyo to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute, Pan Jian Yong made a precise shot to the right of Matías Patrone. Los Delfines's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 29th minute Pan Jian Yong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matías Patrone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute of the match Lions United got a corner. Los Delfines's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gao Cheng Yun ran over to the corner to take the kick. 35 minutes into the match, Lions United's goal looked a bit too open when Oliver Bierhoff came free, but Steve De Wilde reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Steve De Wilde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oliver Bierhoff, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Steve De Wilde took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oliver Bierhoff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The corner ended in Raimundo Goyo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Lions United's Steve De Wilde did a great save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zachary Pliszka in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Steve De Wilde prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
