Paulo Laurentzi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Criciúma Esporte Clube from getting a goal against them. Criciúma Esporte Clube's defense didn't have a chance, in the 32nd minute, when Tiaguinho Mandrak scored to the left of an out of position Evelio Antoniano, making the score, 1-0. In the 37th minute Clube do Remo MZ were awarded a corner. Didi Mello went to the cornerflag to take it. Criciúma Esporte Clube's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luiz Valadares in the 40th minute. The corner ended in Luiz Valadares almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Clube do Remo MZ's Alirio Oyuela did a great save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bieito Villaurreta to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55thth minute of the game Bieito Villaurreta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Clube do Remo MZ's Alirio Oyuela was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Didi Mello in the 59th minute of play. In the 64th minute Paulo Laurentzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alirio Oyuela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Eriz Marques kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alirio Oyuela. That made the score 1-2 in the 96 minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Clube do Remo MZ lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
