The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Paysandu's Cléber Pinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Breno Vergílio in the 7th minute of play. Paysandu's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Breno Vergílio scored to the left of an out of position Cléber Pinho, making the score, 1-0. Cléber Pinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lei Feng Yan in the 10th minute. Cléber Pinho was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Faustão Châton showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 12 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Breno Vergílio in the 16th minute of play forced Paysandu's goalkeeper Cléber Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Daniel Owsiak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 24 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Daniel Owsiak sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cléber Pinho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Aurelio Walme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dida Mesquita in the 26th minute of play. Lei Feng Yan's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 30thth minute, Cléber Pinho skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Cléber Pinho stood somewhat misplaced when Geovani Medeiros came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 38 minute. Breno Vergílio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cléber Pinho having to interfere. Mikkel Lilleland's late challenge caught a S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mikkel Lilleland helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Paysandu's Mikkel Lilleland got a free kick in the 46th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Dida Mesquita made the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute Geovani Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cléber Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Lei Feng Yan in the 51st minute. The corner led S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Lei Feng Yan to fire away a dangerous shot which Cléber Pinho despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience cheered when Lei Feng Yan's long shot passed Cléber Pinho's right side. It was 4-0, 52 minutes into the match. Cléber Pinho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Owsiak's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. If Breno Vergílio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 62 minutes of play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Daniel Owsiak made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cléber Pinho was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 64th match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucio Siekkötter to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lei Feng Yan in the 69th minute of play forced Paysandu's goalkeeper Cléber Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cléber Pinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Breno Vergílio in the 74th minute of the match. When Lei Feng Yan came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lei Feng Yan couldn't finish the play. Mikkel Lilleland's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aurelio Walme read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Lei Feng Yan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cléber Pinho was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Paysandu's Mikkel Lilleland got a free kick in the 94th minute. When the referee ended the match the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
