Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doctor Strange in the 4th minute of play. The supporters of Criciúma Esporte Clube booed when Sport Clube Recife was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rain Bow didn't get a good kick on the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Criciúma Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Doctor Strange came free, but Evelio Antoniano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Percy Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bieito Villaurreta, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. 14 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Recife's goal looked a bit too open when Bieito Villaurreta came free, but Percy Fernandez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Laurentzi in the 19th minute of play. After 21 minutes Sport Clube Recife's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luiz Valadares who took care of the corner kick. Evelio Antoniano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doctor Strange, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After 25 played minutes Criciúma Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Zenon Zapolski. After a rather tough play, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Rapolas Jutkus got a free kick in the 27th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Recife's Pablo Lampard sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Evelio Antoniano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Evelio Antoniano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Doctor Strange in the 30th minute of the match. Gualter Penha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Evelio Antoniano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Sport Clube Recife's Doctor Strange in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Criciúma Esporte Clube's goalie prevented a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bieito Villaurreta made a kick off. After some careless play in the Criciúma Esporte Clube defense, Gualter Penha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Evelio Antoniano. The Criciúma Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Evelio Antoniano should have stopped the shot. In the 54th match minute, Sport Clube Recife was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remo Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. Luiz Valadares's late challenge caught a Sport Clube Recife's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Valadares helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Criciúma Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Luiz Valadares hit a great ball. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doctor Strange in the 60th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gualter Penha in the 73rd minute of play forced Criciúma Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Evelio Antoniano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 77 played minutes Sport Clube Recife got a freekick which was hit by Gualter Penha. Evelio Antoniano came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Clube Recife's Doctor Strange. But to his dismay, Doctor Strange quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After a rather tough play, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Luiz Valadares got a free kick in the 88th minute. Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Sport Clube Recife from getting a goal against them. Eriz Marques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Percy Fernandez having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sport Clube Recife fully deserved thier win.
