The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Jairo Baraquiel recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Farid Mondragón. Jairo Baraquiel showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Descamisados CF's Jairo Baraquiel slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Farid Mondragón. That made the score 2-0 after 6 minutes of play. Descamisados CF's Lawrence Lawless played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sid Chadwick in the 9th minute of play. With a little luck, C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón got control of the ball when Jairo Baraquiel tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lawrence Lawless showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kerry Sellers in the 15th minute of the match. Jairo Baraquiel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Farid Mondragón made a huge save. Farid Mondragón made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Jairo Baraquiel sent off a good shot on target. Lawrence Lawless took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kerry Sellers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jairo Baraquiel in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Farid Mondragón saved C. A. Independiente from getting behind. Lawrence Lawless stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kerry Sellers's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. Kerry Sellers hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute, one of C. A. Independiente:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for C. A. Independiente. C. A. Independiente:s Farid Mondragón showed great skill when he stopped Ricardo Bochini:s penalty. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Xu Yun Quan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Farid Mondragón showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jairo Baraquiel, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Xu Yun Quan's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Lawrence Lawless firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Jairo Baraquiel came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Descamisados CF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jairo Baraquiel couldn't finish the play. Jairo Baraquiel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Descamisados CF's Celestino Artaldo was substituted for Anselmo Thomas. Descamisados CF's Ludomir Kaider was substituted for Primeiro Imperiale. 64 minutes into the match, Descamisados CF's goalkeeper Lawrence Lawless had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sid Chadwick. C. A. Independiente were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Descamisados CF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Eric Snowden took the corner. After a rather tough play, Descamisados CF's Fabian Plaski got a free kick in the 68th minute. 69 minutes into the game, Eric Snowden cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Lawrence Lawless was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Xu Yun Quan got free with Lawrence Lawless in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Txartiko in the 79th minute of play. Lawrence Lawless made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kerry Sellers in the 80th minute of play. Farid Mondragón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrian Txartiko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Celestino Artaldo made a great header on Descamisados CF's corner, it was just that C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón managed to reach the ball for a save. Ludomir Kaider sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 90th minute Ludomir Kaider shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Farid Mondragón saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. C. A.
