A beautiful save bye Galatasaray's goalie prevented a goal. Poyraz Oksay made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Nejat Uysal sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Salihli's zone, Akil Ülken stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Poyraz Oksay came out of the goal and Akil Ülken tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nejat Uysal struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Poyraz Oksay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galatasaray. 20 minutes into the match, Salihli's Bektaş Ali Öktüre sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sertaç Serhun narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nejat Uysal took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Poyraz Oksay. Poyraz Oksay dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bektaş Ali Öktüre in the 27th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Sertaç Serhun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nurettin Yazgan kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. After having played for 29 minutes, Bektaş Ali Öktüre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salihli's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bektaş Ali Öktüre was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Nejat Uysal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Galatasaray's Sertaç Serhun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bektaş Ali Öktüre in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th minute, Gazi Parshan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 35th minute Mustafa Namık Sarif shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sertaç Serhun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sertaç Serhun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bektaş Ali Öktüre, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Akil Ülken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Poyraz Oksay having to interfere. A collision led to Galatasaray getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Gazi Parshan hit a great ball. Sertaç Serhun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mustafa Namık Sarif in the 46th minute of play. Nejat Uysal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Poyraz Oksay having to interfere.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Akil Ülken to make the kick off. The referee showed Gazi Parshan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 64 minutes into the match, Salihli's goal looked a bit too open when Akil Ülken came free, but Poyraz Oksay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Nejat Uysal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galatasaray's supporters rose to their feet, but Nejat Uysal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Poyraz Oksay breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Salihli's Doğa Tercan got a free kick in the 74th minute. Poyraz Oksay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nejat Uysal in the 78th minute of play. Bektaş Ali Öktüre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Sertaç Serhun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mustafa Namık Sarif sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Yağızhan Orus charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 92nd minute Akil Ülken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Poyraz Oksay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bektaş Ali Öktüre was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. Salihli's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. A collision led to Salihli getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Yağızhan Orus hit a great ball. Galatasaray's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
