Malatyaspor's Tuna Kutertan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Akil Ülken in the 36th minute of play. After 42 played minutes Malatyaspor got a freekick which was hit by Çelebi Ayaydın. Bedir Bozbora could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Sertaç Serhun made a huge save. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Akil Ülken was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Malatyaspor's Taner Tercan got a free kick in the 60th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Nejat Uysal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galatasaray's supporters rose to their feet, but Nejat Uysal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tuna Kutertan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Malatyaspor booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tayyip Hakyemez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 88th match minute, Malatyaspor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arda Ozan Eğriöz to maneuver through the defense. Sertaç Serhun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mehmet Akif Naci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. For all the effort they put into the match, the Galatasaray players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Malatyaspor.
