Club Atlético Atlanta's Pankracy Glogowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso da Cunha in the 12th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atlético Atlanta's zone, Afonso da Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pankracy Glogowski came out of the goal and Afonso da Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Afonso da Cunha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With his leg Ludomil Ziomkowski managed to avoid a goal in the 36thth minute, when Club Atlético Atlanta's Alfonso Goicoechea fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Club Atlético Atlanta were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after CA Metropolitano - FSCMZ's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ciro Ferdinand took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Anselmo Nevada managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. CA Metropolitano - FSCMZ were awarded a corner in the 43th minute after Club Atlético Atlanta's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Xande Campbell took the corner. The corner led CA Metropolitano - FSCMZ's Xande Campbell to fire away a dangerous shot which Pankracy Glogowski despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ludomil Ziomkowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfonso Goicoechea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfonso Goicoechea to strike the kick off in the second half.
