The tension between the SC Casinha and the Grosse Pointe Farms players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Grosse Pointe Farms booed when SC Casinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gentil Calado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Grosse Pointe Farms's zone, Serafim Pacheco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Lind came out of the goal and Serafim Pacheco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Louie Lefler recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 26th match minute, SC Casinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gentil Calado to maneuver through the defense. 31 minutes into the match, Grosse Pointe Farms's Leon Kaplan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Virgílio Amado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Leon Kaplan came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Grosse Pointe Farms fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leon Kaplan couldn't finish the play. Serafim Pacheco took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Lind. Benito Lind dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Leon Kaplan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgílio Amado having to interfere. After 43 minutes, Kyle Whitmore mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grosse Pointe Farms and the SC Casinha players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Nuno Pires came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the SC Casinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Pires couldn't finish the play. Benito Lind took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serafim Pacheco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gentil Calado was the one to do the kick off. Leal Osório sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 55 minutes into the game, Leon Kaplan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Virgílio Amado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 59 minutes into the game, Jorge Vilaça threw the ball into play from the sideline. Grosse Pointe Farms's Diego Thorne quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 59 minutes into the match, SC Casinha's goal looked a bit too open when Leon Kaplan came free, but Virgílio Amado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Jorge Vilaça hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Jesse Shepherd came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Grosse Pointe Farms fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jesse Shepherd couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Leon Kaplan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Virgílio Amado was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. In the 73rd minute, SC Casinha's Gentil Calado ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Lind. Benito Lind yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Virgílio Amado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thanh Rhoades in the 78th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, Grosse Pointe Farms's goalkeeper Benito Lind had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Serafim Pacheco. Benito Lind was out of position in the 83 minute of play, and Gentil Calado capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gentil Calado really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. 87 minutes into the match, Leon Kaplan notched a goal, 2-4, to the right of SC Casinha's Virgílio Amado. Virgílio Amado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Virgílio Amado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thanh Rhoades, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Casinha's goalkeeper Virgílio Amado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Casinha walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
