The goalkeeper, Tadeu de Andrade, was totally fooled by Grosse Pointe Farms's Len Springer, who 6 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Carlos Fernando Baiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Lind having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gualter Brasil in the 10th minute of play forced Grosse Pointe Farms's goalkeeper Benito Lind to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jesse Shepherd during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Hélder de Queiroz came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Schutzstaffel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hélder de Queiroz couldn't finish the play. In the 44th minute Hélder de Queiroz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Lind saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 45 minutes of play, Schutzstaffel's Carlos Fernando Baiano made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Lind was left in no man's land by his defense there! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Len Springer made the kick off in the second half. Hélder de Queiroz succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-3 in the 58th playminute.
