With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rodriguinho Sousa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Deilmison van Basten took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aurelio Walme. Aurelio Walme dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Rodriguinho Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucio Siekkötter, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After 40 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Bai Cheng Kang.
