Olov Wahlnäs didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Erik Cantona went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to Skövde AIK getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Georg Norström hit a great ball. Brian Laudrup, 16 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Erik Cantona took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olov Wahlnäs. Olov Wahlnäs dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kurt Hamrin in the 21st minute of play forced Saga TF's goalkeeper Joachim Forseth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Saga TF's Arne Botnen got a free kick in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erik Cantona in the 27th minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Olov Wahlnäs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olov Wahlnäs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arne Botnen in the 29th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kurt Hamrin in the 31st minute of play forced Saga TF's goalkeeper Joachim Forseth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joachim Forseth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Keegan in the 32nd minute of play. After 36 minutes Saga TF's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Chen Ao Fan who took care of the corner kick. Joachim Forseth made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Chen Ao Fan sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 44 minutes, Knut Rudberg took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Joachim Forseth to make any attempt to save it. After the first half Saga TF were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kevin Keegan to strike the kick off in the second half. Joachim Forseth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Keegan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 56 minutes into the match, Saga TF's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Keegan came free, but Joachim Forseth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joachim Forseth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kurt Hamrin in the 58th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Skövde AIK's Krister Uggstedt got a free kick in the 66th minute. In the 68th match minute, Skövde AIK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Krister Uggstedt to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute, Skövde AIK's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Erik Cantona fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Joachim Forseth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kevin Keegan in the 71st minute of the match. Olov Wahlnäs made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erik Cantona in the 79th minute. Kevin Keegan took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joachim Forseth. Joachim Forseth dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Erik Cantona blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Olov Wahlnäs having to make a save. Olov Wahlnäs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erik Cantona in the 90th minute of play. A collision led to Saga TF getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Brian Laudrup hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Kevin Keegan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Skövde AIK's supporters rose to their feet, but Kevin Keegan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joachim Forseth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
