The audience thought a goal was coming when Kevin Keegan got free with Holger Vester in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Chen Ao Fan made the kick off in the second half. Hammarby IF's Holger Vester played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chen Ao Fan in the 56th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Hammarby IF's Ola Bremming got a free kick in the 59th minute. Olov Wahlnäs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celedonio Dominguez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olov Wahlnäs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonas Hök in the 69th minute of the match. If Kevin Keegan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Skövde AIK made a substitution.
