After 22 played minutes, Ipswich Traktor Boys's Bastian Von Axelson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pål Sefastsson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ipswich Traktor Boys reached it. Ipswich Traktor Boys's Marcos Basso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bennvar Post in the 24th minute of play. In the 30th minute Slawomir Cisek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pål Sefastsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bennvar Post in the 33rd minute of play forced Ipswich Traktor Boys's goalkeeper Marcos Basso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roland Björklund hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abdulkerim Türköne in the 46th minute of play. Marcos Basso came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by National Team Cape-Verde's Bennvar Post. But to his dismay, Bennvar Post quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

With an all-out effort, National Team Cape-Verde's Marcos Basso threw himself towards the right post 57 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Carlos Alberto Tevez, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Roland Björklund hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. 63 minutes into the match, Ipswich Traktor Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Fredric Melander came free, but Marcos Basso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Torgny Söderström hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. National Team Cape-Verde made a substitution. Klas Bergqvist replaced Fredric Melander. In the 65th minute, Torgny Söderström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcos Basso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alberto Tevez in the 66th minute of the match. Marcos Basso made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Carlos Alberto Tevez sent off a good shot on target. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Ipswich Traktor Boys had held the ball for most of the match.
