The audience thought a goal was coming when Harry Hedling got free with Holger Vester in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ola Bremming hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Jens-Åke Källberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celedonio Dominguez in the 19th minute of play. Holger Vester was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Julian Beturian showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 21 minute of play. 27 minutes into the game, Boca Juniors's Gerd Della nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Holger Vester made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. With a little luck, Hammarby IF's Holger Vester got control of the ball when Gerd Della tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Gerd Della took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Holger Vester to make any attempt to save it. Holger Vester showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harry Hedling, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Jiang Xuan Nan took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Holger Vester. Holger Vester dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Hammarby IF's Holger Vester proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Hammarby IF from getting a goal against them. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Holger Vester showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
