Skövde AIK's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Holger Blom ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Boca Juniors's corner Holger Blom fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Olov Wahlnäs quite easily take care of the ball. Olov Wahlnäs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Beturian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olov Wahlnäs made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gerd Della in the 17th minute. Jens-Åke Källberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chen Ao Fan's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. A collision led to Skövde AIK getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Georg Norström hit a great ball. Boca Juniors's Jens-Åke Källberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chen Ao Fan in the 25th minute of play. Julian Beturian scored 2-0 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Olov Wahlnäs, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerd Della got free with Olov Wahlnäs in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Skövde AIK's Olov Wahlnäs got control of the ball when Gerd Della tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Skövde AIK's Hans Petersson got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 44th minute Chen Ao Fan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens-Åke Källberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olov Wahlnäs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Beturian in the 46th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Julian Beturian to strike the kick off in the second half. Jens-Åke Källberg made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Kevin Keegan sent off a good shot on target.
