After a rather tough play, SJÖARED's Sture Göransson got a free kick in the 4th minute. Olov Wahlnäs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sture Göransson in the 10th minute of play. Adrian Springfält made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurt Hamrin in the 12th minute of play. Olov Wahlnäs was a little too slow when Sture Göransson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 18th minute. The score was now 1-0. Skövde AIK's Olov Wahlnäs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sture Göransson in the 22nd minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Sture Göransson came free, but Olov Wahlnäs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the SJÖARED defense, Kevin Keegan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adrian Springfält. The SJÖARED fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adrian Springfält should have stopped the shot. In the 30th minute Sture Göransson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olov Wahlnäs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 32nd minute of the match SJÖARED got a corner. Skövde AIK's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tim Hellbom ran over to the corner to take the kick. Theo Stovall was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Sture Göransson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Adrian Springfält showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kurt Hamrin, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Adrian Springfält took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chen Ao Fan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 43rd minute of the game. One of SJÖARED:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Skövde AIK:s goal. The referee gave Skövde AIK a penalty, 44 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Kevin Keegan, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SJÖARED's Adrian Springfält. 1-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
The wind increased when Sture Göransson made the kick off in the second half. Olov Wahlnäs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vilhelm Lidman in the 51st minute of the match. In the 54th minute Helge Gustafsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olov Wahlnäs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Skövde AIK's Olov Wahlnäs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sture Göransson in the 56th minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
