The crowd rose to their feet as SJÖARED's Kaj Ekegren slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pål Sefastsson. That made the score 1-0 after 23 minutes of play. SJÖARED's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tim Hellbom in the 27th minute. The corner went over the outstretched arms of National Team Cape-Verde's goalie and right to Gunnar Hellström. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. National Team Cape-Verde's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. A collision led to National Team Cape-Verde getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Leon Fasgar hit a great ball. With a little luck, National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson got control of the ball when Kaj Ekegren tried to sneak it across the goal line. Roland Björklund kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kaj Ekegren made a kick off. After 52 played minutes National Team Cape-Verde got a freekick which was hit by Yin Yang Wei. National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Helge Gustafsson in the 53rd minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Roger Bålström in the 54th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by National Team Cape-Verde's Roland Björklund. Bennvar Posts short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got Adrian Springfält to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Bennvar Post received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Adrian Springfält tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Alberto Tevezs short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Adrian Springfält to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Carlos Alberto Tevez succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 80th playminute. Klas Bergqvist hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match.
