In the 84th minute Alfredo Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurelio Walme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dida Taffarel came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Lei Feng Yan. But to his dismay, Lei Feng Yan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Caxias do Sul's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
