In the 6th match minute, Jenipapo SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Börje Kämpe to maneuver through the defense. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raphael Cunha in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th match minute, ATHLETICO PRaiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erubiel Valery to maneuver through the defense. Arsenio Gipuzkoa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 17th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rodriguinho Sousa. ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 20th minute of the game Börje Kämpe made a throw-in which Vinicio Junior played forward. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aníbal Alagoano in the 21st minute of play forced ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raphael Cunha in the 25th minute of play. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Alagoano in the 26th minute of play. Rodriguinho Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vinicio Junior, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Raphael Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodriguinho Sousa having to interfere. In the 38th minute Aníbal Alagoano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodriguinho Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Jenipapo SC getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Zé Carlos Monteiro hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aníbal Alagoano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rodriguinho Sousa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Raphael Cunha showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 51 minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Vilhelm Skoog managed to get in a good position for a shot. ATHLETICO PRaiano's supporters rose to their feet, but Vilhelm Skoog was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Seaman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 59thth minute of the game Vinicio Junior who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Deilmison van Basten got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 63rd minute of the game Börje Kämpe made a throw-in which Vinicio Junior played forward. Rodriguinho Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raphael Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. 67 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's goal looked a bit too open when Raphael Cunha came free, but Rodriguinho Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 69 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's Deilmison van Basten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that David Seaman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 95 played minutes ATHLETICO PRaiano got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Magalhães. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Jenipapo SC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
