Floresta Negra FC's Egun Pais played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrique Borges in the 33rd minute of play. Henrique Borges's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Egun Pais read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Andy Cole could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Hansjörg Wastl made a huge save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After 54 minutes Floresta Negra FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Naldo Valladares who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Felippe Pitta almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Floresta Negra FC's Egun Pais did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andy Cole in the 63rd minute of play forced Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's goalkeeper Hansjörg Wastl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
