The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute Patrik De Roost shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Baptista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Baptista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ediberto de Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Carlos Baptista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mihăiţă Stolniceanu in the 11th minute of play. Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after ЧΙ ƝƖ̇ƘƠMЄƊƖ̇ƛ ƑƘ's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ediberto de Queirós took the corner. 19 minutes in the game Lars Flinck did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Fábio Vieira. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mihăiţă Stolniceanu got free with Carlos Baptista in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. ЧΙ ƝƖ̇ƘƠMЄƊƖ̇ƛ ƑƘ's Kadri Aksoy managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Lars Flinck in the 21 minute of the game. In the 23rd minute, Patrik De Roost hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's Carlos Baptista threw himself towards the right post 26 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Patrik De Roost, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. ЧΙ ƝƖ̇ƘƠMЄƊƖ̇ƛ ƑƘ's Carlos Baptista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihăiţă Stolniceanu in the 27th minute of play. Mihăiţă Stolniceanu might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Baptista. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mihăiţă Stolniceanu ran back to his position shaking his head. Luiz Fábio Guimarães got in the 29th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Carlos Baptista handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. The Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely fans' excitement grew in the 31st match minute when Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's Patrik De Roost looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihăiţă Stolniceanu in the 33rd minute of play forced ЧΙ ƝƖ̇ƘƠMЄƊƖ̇ƛ ƑƘ's goalkeeper Carlos Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Luiz Fábio Guimarães dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Carlos Baptista, 2-0. When ЧΙ ƝƖ̇ƘƠMЄƊƖ̇ƛ ƑƘ's Erlin Haaland in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The referee ignored Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's protests and gave Ediberto de Queirós a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Ediberto de Queirós hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mihăiţă Stolniceanu to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Mihăiţă Stolniceanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Baptista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Baptista came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's Adrián-Daniel Dobre. But to his dismay, Adrián-Daniel Dobre quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Ersen Bumba blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lyle Coppack having to make a save. Through an outstanding action, after 59 minutes, Lyle Coppack successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ersen Bumba struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Lyle Coppack didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ЧΙ ƝƖ̇ƘƠMЄƊƖ̇ƛ ƑƘ. 68 minutes into the match, Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's goal looked a bit too open when Ersen Bumba came free, but Lyle Coppack reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ersen Bumba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Carlos Baptista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fábio Guimarães in the 72nd minute of play. In the 77thth minute of the game Ersen Bumba who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's Lyle Coppack was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
