Óscar Cordoba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lino Rios's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. Lino Rios might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Óscar Cordoba. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lino Rios ran back to his position shaking his head. Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lino Rios, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting de Gijón's zone, Lino Rios stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Óscar Cordoba came out of the goal and Lino Rios tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lino Rios, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sporting de Gijón's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dawid Beckham was slow to take the kick. During this time AFC FUSION's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Sporting de Gijón's goalie and right to Jan Hop. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Sporting de Gijón's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 30 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Lino Rios came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30thth minute of the game Lino Rios who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lino Rios sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Roberto Eztebe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Maradona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. AFC FUSION's Roberto Eztebe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save AFC FUSION from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lino Rios in the 45th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matias Bilintx to make the kick off. The shot was stopped by Óscar Cordoba but with some difficulty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christoff Stocks in the 72nd minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roberto Eztebe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matias Bilintx in the 77th minute of play. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Mario Zanabria replaced Venancio Emesto. If Christoff Stocks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 90 minutes of play, AFC FUSION's Jan Hop made it 1-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Óscar Cordoba was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Christoff Stocks in the 94th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Diego Maradona charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Diego Maradona the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 96th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego Maradona to maneuver through the defense.
