An unexpectedly hard shot by Mai Quan Peng in the 19th minute of play forced Academia Militar MZ's goalkeeper Diamantino Magalhães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Academia Militar MZ's Diamantino Magalhães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mai Quan Peng in the 22nd minute of play. Dan Vøge might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Diamantino Magalhães. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The crowd rose to their feet as Academia Militar MZ's Hélder Custódio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Einar Klysnov. That made the score 1-2 after 47 minutes of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bernd Goldsche made a kick off.
