Vicente Bartoleme made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Venancio Emesto sent off a good shot on target. 10 minutes into the match, Igor Stephen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Óscar Cordoba. Sporting de Gijón's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Igor Stephen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After some careless play in the Sporting de Gijón defense, Moise Bădiță kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Óscar Cordoba. The Sporting de Gijón fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Óscar Cordoba should have stopped the shot. 17 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Timoteo Firmo came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Moise Bădiță in the 19th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Moise Bădiță managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Moise Bădiță was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Óscar Cordoba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Sporting de Gijón getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Atilano Feo hit a great ball. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonardo Frazier in the 25th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matias Bilintx in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vicente Bartoleme saved Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ. from getting behind. Vicente Bartoleme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matias Bilintx in the 37th minute of play. Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ.'s Vicente Bartoleme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matias Bilintx in the 37th minute of play. Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ.'s Igor Stephen got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sporting de Gijón's Wayne Rooney was substituted for Alejandro Rufo. Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ.'s Florencio Jobo was substituted for Igor Stephen.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Matias Bilintx was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wayne Rooney in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vicente Bartoleme saved Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ. from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Florencio Jobo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Óscar Cordoba was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ. were awarded a corner in the 76th minute after Sporting de Gijón's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Leonardo Frazier took the corner. The corner led Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ.'s Leonardo Frazier to fire away a dangerous shot which Óscar Cordoba despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Matias Bilintx took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vicente Bartoleme. Vicente Bartoleme dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Sporting de Gijón's Mario Zanabria was substituted for Venancio Emesto. Florencio Jobo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Óscar Cordoba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vicente Bartoleme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Maradona in the 84th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matias Bilintx in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vicente Bartoleme saved Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ. from getting behind. When the final whistle sounded Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ. left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Sporting de Gijón.
