After a defensive mix-up in Berutti FC's zone, Knut Rudberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bruno Macario came out of the goal and Knut Rudberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Kevin Keegan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Bruno Macario made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Kevin Keegan sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Lobo in the 12th minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Olov Wahlnäs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Lobo came free, but Olov Wahlnäs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, Berutti FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edelmiro Cheche to maneuver through the defense. Bruno Macario made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerry Williams in the 24th minute of play. Edelmiro Cheche received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Olov Wahlnäs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Olov Wahlnäs didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Reynaldo Raebert went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Bruno Macario made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Keegan in the 31st minute of play. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Berutti FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Kevin Keegan was slow to take the kick. During this time Skövde AIK's players had a chance to rest. The supporters of Skövde AIK booed when Berutti FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niceto Aznaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bruno Macario made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Kevin Keegan sent off a good shot on target. In the 42nd minute, Angelino Castulo made a precise shot to the right of Olov Wahlnäs. Skövde AIK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After the first half Berutti FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Kevin Keegan made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edelmiro Cheche in the 52nd minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Olov Wahlnäs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bruno Macario showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chen Ao Fan in the 54th minute of the match. Kevin Keegan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bruno Macario read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Skövde AIK's Olov Wahlnäs proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Skövde AIK from getting a goal against them. Edelmiro Cheche struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Olov Wahlnäs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Berutti FC. With his leg Olov Wahlnäs managed to avoid a goal in the 63rdth minute, when Berutti FC's Edelmiro Cheche fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerry Williams in the 64th minute of play forced Berutti FC's goalkeeper Bruno Macario to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olov Wahlnäs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Lobo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 75 played minutes Skövde AIK got a freekick which was hit by Chen Ao Fan. Bruno Macario made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chen Ao Fan in the 77th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's Kevin Keegan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bruno Macario narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
