The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tryggvi Loðmundsson during the 2nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Vernd Grindavík getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Tryggvi Loðmundsson hit a great ball. Kilnacrew FC's Donn Todd played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson in the 5th minute of play. When Vernd Grindavík's Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson, in the 9th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Vernd Grindavík. Össur Aðalmundsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brogan McFrancise, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donn Todd having to interfere. In the 18th match minute, Vernd Grindavík was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tryggvi Loðmundsson to maneuver through the defense. In the 21stth minute of the game Dalvin Ingjaldsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Kilnacrew FC's Donn Todd was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 26 played minutes Vernd Grindavík got a freekick which was hit by Teitur Ásþórsson. After 28 played minutes Kilnacrew FC got a freekick which was hit by Bricin Murphy. Össur Aðalmundsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thomas McFrancise in the 36th minute of the match. Donn Todd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. When the match clock showed 38 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson sped through Kilnacrew FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Donn Todd. Össur Aðalmundsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Brogan McFrancise in the 43rd minute. Donn Todd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the match, Kilnacrew FC's goal looked a bit too open when Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson came free, but Donn Todd reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson made the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute of the match, Dalvin Ingjaldsson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Donn Todd saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Dalvin Ingjaldsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Brogan McFrancise fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Össur Aðalmundsson having to interfere. Donn Todd made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson in the 76th minute. If Dalvin Ingjaldsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vernd Grindavík's supporters rose to their feet, but Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donn Todd breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 86 played minutes Kilnacrew FC got a freekick which was hit by Barrie Palmer. Össur Aðalmundsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Todd Sheridan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 90 minutes into the game, Lórens Fjalarsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vernd Grindavík's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kilnacrew FC the free kick. In the 90th minute, Lórens Fjalarsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bjarnleifur Hallbjörnsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Donn Todd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Vernd Grindavík eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
