The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Elpidio Francis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ysmael Marfil was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. In the 5th match minute, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timoteo Basualdo to maneuver through the defense. Elpidio Francis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ysmael Marfil having to make a save. With an all-out effort, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Ysmael Marfil threw himself towards the right post 9 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Elpidio Francis, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elpidio Francis in the 13th minute of play forced DINAMO's goalkeeper Ysmael Marfil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elpidio Francis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ysmael Marfil read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. The ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. In the 29th minute of the match ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA got a corner. DINAMO's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Esteban Iztal ran over to the corner to take the kick. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Esteban Iztal was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ysmael Marfil in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Branislav Velchevski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albert Filipoiu in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ysmael Marfil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elpidio Francis might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ysmael Marfil. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elpidio Francis ran back to his position shaking his head. Ysmael Marfil showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elpidio Francis in the 35th minute of the match. DINAMO's Ysmael Marfil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Francis in the 38th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Moise Vlădean to strike the kick off in the second half. Elpidio Francis scored 3-0 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ysmael Marfil, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 60thth minute of the game André Monclús who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but DINAMO's Ysmael Marfil was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Branislav Velchevski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ryszard Borcz in the 61st minute of the match. Ysmael Marfil stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of André Monclús's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. When André Monclús came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Monclús couldn't finish the play. 68 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Ryszard Borcz came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69th match minute, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnaldo Gabon to maneuver through the defense. After 72 minutes of play, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's André Monclús made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Branislav Velchevski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albert Filipoiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. The corner ended in Traian Stoiculescu almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski did a great save. If André Monclús had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Moise Vlădean could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Branislav Velchevski made a huge save. After some careless play in the DINAMO defense, André Monclús kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ysmael Marfil. The DINAMO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ysmael Marfil should have stopped the shot. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
