The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Laércio Penha got free with Julio Falcioni in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Damian Galsino hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Mickaël Maris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 狄钢远 in the 15th minute of the match. In the 17th match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Heitor Ferreira to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Fábio de Medeiros got free with Julio Falcioni in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Cardo Ruso Cordobés's zone, Laércio Penha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Falcioni came out of the goal and Laércio Penha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Cardo Ruso Cordobés getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Juliusz Gdowik hit a great ball. Mickaël Maris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Franky Dhondt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Laércio Penha in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Falcioni saved Cardo Ruso Cordobés from getting behind. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Franky Dhondt to strike the kick off in the second half. Cardo Ruso Cordobés's Albino Millano was substituted for 狄钢远. Olavo Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's attentive Luiz Fábio de Medeiros managed to snatch the ball when Sven-Ove Chrintz made a throw-in in the 59th minute of the game. In the 75th minute of the match, Bennvar Back tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mickaël Maris saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 80th minute, Bennvar Back left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cardo Ruso Cordobés fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Nova Iguaçu MZFC from getting a goal against them. In the 86th minute Laércio Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Falcioni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bennvar Back sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mickaël Maris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bennvar Back in the 87th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Bennvar Back managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cardo Ruso Cordobés's supporters rose to their feet, but Bennvar Back was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mickaël Maris breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Cardo Ruso Cordobés's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
