A nice corner shot did that Waka Barcellos got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Segundo Gol quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. A collision led to New England Minas getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Dwayne Clement hit a great ball. Segundo Gol showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Toscano, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Segundo Gol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caetano Toscano in the 33rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kaba Sø got free with Waldir Peres in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. New England Minas's Kaba Sø managed to work through Barcellos Mineiro FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Kaba Sø dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dallas Seymour to make the kick off.
