Odysseus De Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdulkerim Bir having to interfere. The supporters of FC Lugano booed when Nevşehirspor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sufi Kurtuluş didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Nevşehirspor getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Şakir Uğurel hit a great ball. Nevşehirspor's Abdulkerim Bir played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Odysseus De Souza in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute, Odysseus De Souza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Lugano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 19th minute, Matteo Gartenmann ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Abdulkerim Bir was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. A collision led to Nevşehirspor getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Şakir Uğurel hit a great ball. 28 minutes into the game, Florian Diederich cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Abdulkerim Bir was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. FC Lugano's Tiziano Gamache was substituted for Matteo Gartenmann. Nevşehirspor's attentive Olcay Geylan managed to snatch the ball when Tito Waechter made a throw-in in the 40th minute of the game. Nevşehirspor's Abdulkerim Bir played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiziano Gamache in the 42nd minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tiziano Gamache to make the kick off. In the 51st play minute Florian Diederich came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Abdulkerim Bir. 0-5. Odysseus De Souza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Abdulkerim Bir made a huge save. Abdulkerim Bir made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Odysseus De Souza sent off a good shot on target. FC Lugano made a substitution. Guido Emennegger replaced Fidelio Haller. 68 minutes into the match, Nevşehirspor's goal looked a bit too open when Tiziano Gamache came free, but Abdulkerim Bir reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th minute, Florian Diederich left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Lugano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-6. The crowd rose to their feet as Tiziano Gamache kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Abdulkerim Bir. That made the score 0-7 in the 75 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in FC Lugano's zone, Ali Baran Sarim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Max Sevier came out of the goal and Ali Baran Sarim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute, FC Lugano's Tiziano Gamache ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Abdulkerim Bir. Abdulkerim Bir yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-8. Abdulkerim Bir didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Florian Diederich went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score.
