After 11 minutes, Karim Benzema made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Macedonia's Spase Kastrati tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Iona Lightfoot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diljan Dzaferi in the 17th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, KARAORMAN's goal looked a bit too open when Deljan Nastevski came free, but Iona Lightfoot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th match minute, KARAORMAN was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tim Hateboer to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute, Diljan Dzaferi made a precise shot to the right of Iona Lightfoot. KARAORMAN's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Karim Benzemas short, quick shot in the 43rdth minute got Spase Kastrati to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. KARAORMAN's Iona Lightfoot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramadan Hristov in the 44th minute of play. When the match clock showed 46 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Ramadan Hristov sped through KARAORMAN's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Iona Lightfoot. After the first half Macedonia were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
